About Rachel

Rachel Manko Lutz grew up in Wolfville, and now practises law in Windsor, Nova Scotia.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Memorial University, and completed her Bachelor of Education at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, where she lived until 2020. She holds a Masters of Education in Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Development, with a focus in Social Justice Education, and graduated from Queen's School of Law in 2021. She was called to the Bar in Nova Scotia in 2025.

Rachel has worked in the  public school system in Ontario and Nova Scotia before moving to the not-for-profit sector, where she served adults with intellectual disabilities, children and youth, immigrants and refugees, and Mi'kmaq communities. She is the founder and Executive Director of the Newcomer Choir Association - Canada, and directs the Halifax Newcomer Choir, a singing group for those new in Halifax and locals who want to practice their English, and grow their community.

"Rachel was an incredible help during a really stressful time for us. As newcomers to Canada, we were dealing with a former employer who was trying to take advantage of us, and we didn’t fully understand our rights or how the system worked. Rachel was not only professional, but also so patient and understanding. She really took the time to explain things clearly and made us feel supported.

What stood out the most is how much she cares about her clients—especially people like us who are still learning how things work here, including the laws and the language. She also guided us through a difficult situation with our landlord, who was trying to charge us extra money when we moved out. Thanks to Rachel, we understood how the Tenancy Board works and how to respond in a fair and confident way.

We felt much more empowered thanks to her. If you’re a newcomer facing legal issues and don’t know where to turn, Rachel is someone you can truly count on."
